Taster Evening - Mini-Classes

Looking for group classes but not quite sure what to expect? Maybe you’re scoping out your options, and want to get a taste of how I work and how my classes are run? Well, I’m offering an evening of quickfire mini-classes to give you exactly that opportunity! Dogs of ALL ages and abilities are welcome, but please note that all human attendees must be aged over 18, and all dogs must be happy and comfortable to be around other dogs and humans - further details on these points below.

Choose from up to 4 mini-classes which run for 20 minutes each, and get a hands-on glimpse into just what’s on offer on one of my full-length group courses.

The Details

Each class will run as a self-contained session, so will start with a full intro and end with a wrap-up. These are intended overall to be very short little sessions, just designed to give you an insight into the group class environment, and to my training. There will be short gaps between each mini-class to allow for changeover and breaks for the dogs, and any questions you might have for me about the class or training with me in general.

You can sign up for as many classes as you wish, but please note that spaces are limited and where necessary, I will opt to allow people the opportunity to join with fewer classes if it allows more people to attend overall. If you have a preference for any of the mini-classes, please indicate this in the form below.

Each session will be filmed as part my membership application for the IMDT, and due to this all participants must be over 18, and must sign an agreement to state that they’re happy to be recorded during the session for this express purpose. The recording won’t be used for any other purpose, or seen by anyone aside from the IMDT assessors linked to my application. No personal details will be attached, so you can rest assured that your privacy will be properly cared for.

Please note, this is not a session intended for reactive or nervous dogs, so please do consider your dog’s needs before registering for a place on one of these classes. If your dog is reactive towards or nervous around other dogs or people, please feel free to get in touch with me to discuss, and I’ll be happy to chat with you further and perhaps arrange a free 1:1 consultation for you instead to discuss future training options and opportunities. Contact details can be found here.

Pricing

This is designed to be as accessible an opportunity as possible, and as such the pricing for this is low to reflect that. Check the table below for the breakdown on pricing, which is tiered depending on how many mini-classes you wish to sign up to.

When submitting an enquiry via the form below, I will then send out the full booking information for this event, which will include payment information.

Further details for the exercises

Class 1: Sit is often considered to be one of the most basic, foundational behaviours a dog should learn. It’s also a skill that can be developed and advanced again and again, and used in a variety of different everyday contexts - it’s all in the eye of the beholder! Whether you’ve never trained a sit before, are looking to strengthen the existing skill, or are interested in how you can push it further, this session has benefits for everybody.

Class 2: Middle, also often referred to as a ‘Peekaboo’, is a handy little behaviour which gets our dogs to stand safely tucked between our legs - can’t think of why you’d want to learn this? Don’t worry, I’ve got a ton of reasons for loving and teaching this behaviour, and we’ll discuss this plenty in-session. It’s a useful and slightly less common behaviour, so why not give it a go?

Class 3: You’ll most likely have seen your dog do this before now, after getting up from a long sleep or perhaps during play with another dog. It’s a fun little party trick for us to learn, and it has benefits for our dogs too!

Class 4: Load up is a cue that I put to lifting up a dog, safely and comfortably. Adding predictability to handling is crucial in order to help dogs feel as comfortable and safe as possible in these situations, and this is a core skill which can help to make your life that much easier - think how often you lift your dog! Into and out of the car, up to table at the vets or groomers, into and out of the bath…

Each of these sessions will touch on core training techniques and principles, and each will give you a real practical experience of training in a group session with me. Although the sessions are condensed, there will still be plenty of information and training to get through, so come prepared and above all, ready to enjoy yourselves!
